Hey,

I'm thinking about switching to satellite from terrestrial (in sweden). I heard that viasat locks their cards to a certain machine with some kind of pairing.

So I suppose canaldigital is the only option for me to go with, then?

Or does anyone have any other information? =)

Any recommendation for what dvb-s cards to get nowadays? I'd like something so I can record at least two things simultaneously, and I need something with a card reader. Or do I get the card reader separately? Feeling like a noob Smile

I did not know that Viasat has terrestrial broadcasts. I thought that it was only Boxer??? However, I do think that Viasat is also an option as I think they have DVB-S service (http://www.viasat.se/content/viasats-utbud).

I am using CanalDigital with a Haupague HVR-4400 capture card, with both DVB-T, S, S2 ability and I am able to record from both T and S simultaneously. I have an DVB-T antenna connected as well for the free channels. Using a phoenix smarcard reader for DVB-S/S2I can also do multirecord on the DVB-S as long as the channels are on the same frequency.

See more here on the multidec setup: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ogMultidec

Thank you anders (long time no see)

I didn't mean that viasat has terrestrial. I want to move away from boxer to satellite. The two options is then viasat and canaldigital. But I heard that viasat locks the cards to the box they ship to you when you start a subscription to them, so you can't use the card in another box. That's what I'd like to know about =)

Thank you regarding the info about the hardware, though =)

There has for a long time been talk about Canlal Digital is starting with Card Pairing but I am not sure it has started yet. At least my cards are not paired but I got them 2-3 years ago and am using 1 card in my Samsung TV and the twin card in my Phoenix Card reader. For both card I am using Dilogs CA module (http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=319058) and it works well so far Smile

Good luck but I can not give you any guarantees.

I feel a bit confused... Do you need a ca module even with the phoenix smart card reader?

No, my bad. I used the CA-module when I had the Hauppauge WIN-TV CI HW. For the Phoenix no CA is needed.
