Multiple instances of NPVR - what happened to it?

When NPVR was in beta I was able to fire up multiple instances of it and watch more than one channel - much like a picture-in-picture but separate windows spread over multiple monitors.

Now, whatever I do I cannot fire-up a second or third instance of the NPVR frontend. Is there a tweak to re-enable this?

Earlier screenshot attached for example.

lol, as soon as sub finally got the multi-instance prevention code working (yes, at long last, NextPVR.exe 2.1.5 won't launch twice on my system - yeah!), someone wants multiple instances. There doesn't appear to be a setting to allow this again, unless sub put a hidden setting somewhere.

Ah, OK, if it only happened with 2.1.5 I'll rip it all out and go back 2.1.4. Picture-in-picture can actually be useful.

To be honest, I'd like the first instance to be on the second monitor (would also like to see choice of 3rd or 4th!) and have all subsequent instances launch in a window.

If I'm asking too much then fine, just throwing it out there as a option/feature request/user feedback.

I really missed it .... until I found out about the -multi command line switch that makes all things good again.

Only downside is that if 'start full-screen' is set in options then subsequent instances will fire up full-screen on the same display. Guess I'll have to not use full-screen and maximise for the 1st one and accept a border/title bar.

Would be nice if it respected the 'full-screen' on 1st instance and windowed on subsequent...

actually I didn't mean to imply it only started with 2.1.5. Sub has been trying to prevent multiple instances since 1.5.28 or something like that, and the code has always inexplicably worked for some and not for others. I'm pretty sure I could still launch multiples with 2.0.3, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Either way, I'm glad there is an override for it.

Regarding the full-screen mode, if you want to switch a window to true full-screen or vice-versa, it's Alt-Enter. That's been the Windows standard for 20 years (yes, kids, even before Windows 95).

Yes, thanks for the reminder - I've been using computers since before the 'PC' but sometimes that one can slip past you :-)

Having had a play with the -multi I p'd about and achieved this with 12% CPU :-)

Nice. It's never occurred to me to even attempt that.

A nice bit of mult-record in use there too.
