TV Live pause - maximum pause time?

I like the live paused feature quite alot. For example, I will pause the news whilst going to eat dinner in another room. When I return I can skip through the garbage I dont care for and catchup. However, when I return and unpause the video will often jump forward missing huge gaps of the program.

What I have noticed that the maximum pause time seems to be around 15 mins. The buffer never seems to reach more than 15min.
Can someone explain the parameters of this functionality. is this normal? how can I extend the buffer?

Thanks.

This did the trick. Thanks.
Can I suggest that this should be in the main configuration program? Or at least the wiki?

it does seem like an option that ought to be in Settings, or at least in config.xml rather than buried in an obscure registry setting.

as to being in the wiki, yeah it probably should. all users are encouraged to contribute to the wiki to make the documentation better. there's some notes about how to get wiki access in the tech support sticky post #2.

+ 1 for it at least to be editable in config.xml

This would also make it easier to document in the wiki Big Grin

Bumpy bump Big Grin

Any reason that the rolling file size could not be done in config.xml?

Like the few other registry settings, these settings are used by directshow filters, which these have no visibility of config.xml, or no xml parsing capability.

Thanks sub,

so directshow filters can only be changed via the registry? And they have a standard buffer limit set? And there is no way that NextPVR can write to this unless by direct edit of the registry? Big Grin

No, NextPVR on Win7 or Vista cannot write to this registry setting unless the user has started the application with 'run as administrator', which we definitely dont want to require. This registry setting is in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE since it needs to be visible to different user accounts.

I'm not saying I cant make it a setting in the Settings screen in future, but there are some technical reasons why it is complicated, so it'll need to wait until I have more time available.
