I am new to this so please bear with me. I have been looking at the PC to TV thing for my family room. I am always connecting my laptop up for my husband and his buddy to surf on. If I set up the system, he can watch TV on the PC or TV and use the channel guides and record, etc. Will he also be able to such the net on the TV and open files via the TV? Am I wrong to assume that this is basically just enabling the TV to act as a display device? Thanks!

if you setup windows to use the tvout of your gfx card as the display device, you will be able to perform everything on the tv monitor. eg surf the internet, check emails etc. however the text will most likely be hard to read, so you'll have to make some adjustments for it (ie increase the fonts, reduce the screen resolution to about 800x600). with gbpvr you'll be able to record tv, use the tv guide, watch live tv, etc.

gbpvr doesnt do this, your display device and windows xp allows for this, gbpvr just can be display on the tv like any other application when you set up windows to use you gfx cards tvout.

For surfing the Internet while waiting for GBPVR to finish recording a show, I use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. With Firefox I can adjust the size of the text upwards/downwards by using <Ctrl>+ and <Ctrl>-. Useful (although it doesn't increase image size) as it means I don't have to change the screen resolution.
