I thought I had everything configured alright, but yesterday evening when I wanted to play back a (digital) recording it turned out differently.
I think because I had channels of an analogue and a digital tuner merged, I didn't notice before that the video being played back on the MVP was from the analogue card, not from the digital card (whick had a higher priority).
So today I disabled the analogue card and tried to watch live tv or play back a recording (made with the digital card). Now I get no video (black screen) and stuttering audio. I can see and hear the files normal with windows media player and also on my laptop (client) with NPVR (so no firewall problem or codec). Just not on the MVP.
I am sure I have the correct dongle (20 febr 2011, showing when starting the MVP).
Also, I can play back mpg-files normal, it's just with ts-files.

As you probably know by know I hate being the only person that seems to support the MVP these days, since is not capable of playing many digitial broadcasts. I see many potential problems

1) 2011-09-26 22:27:53.094 [DEBUG][6] locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0 (took 0ms to check)

You don't be seem to be locking onto this channel (but you say you get sound????)

2. "Stuttering sound"

This is often an indication that you are passing AC3 audio which is only in MVP for experimentation and is not really listenable.

3. <service_type>25</service_type>

That looks like it might be h264 which the MVP doesn't support

4.
<encrypted>true</encrypted>

I can't tell from the logs if NPVR is passing this straight through or not, but given 1, it might not matter.

Your best bet is to use your old analog card with your old MVP.

From past experience I would say you really should look at an NMT if you want to watch digital recordings. I could never get my MVP's to work reasonably with any digital recording I tried & finally I bit the bullet & purchased an NMT (a damn site more expensive ($350NZ) then than they are now($160NZ)) & I have never regretted it, I now have four NMT's & I still use one of the old MVP's for playing back music.

Martin,

You were right on 3. I had been installing a lot of software for testing purposes and after that I always put back an old (stable) windows image.
In this image I had selected HD channels. Obviously didn't notice any problem, because on my OLD ;-) analog tv, I didn't see the image I got was from the analog tv card.

Thanks, now hoping Sub has got time to work on the skipping issue (and crash on back/exit).

Jaggy, you're right too. But you know what they say: it's crisis when the neighbour get's unemployed, it's depression when you yourself don't have a job. I am the latter one. Besides that, my wife hate's it to throw away "perfectly good" stuff. And she's right: on the analog tv, the analog tv card and MVP are good enough.

Thanks for the quick replies.

Okay, now I'm back to another problem I had before. Not all of the digital channels are found on scanning in the correct area (Netherlands, Brabant Limburg 1111 area).
I found some in another area, but not all. Is there a way to alter what channels/frequencies are scanned?

I looked in Netherlands - Ziggo - Limburg.brabant.ini
I have in there:
[CABTYPE]
1=Netherlands
2=Ziggo area Brabant Limburg (1111)

[DVB]
0=27
1=C,276000,6875,QAM64,8
2=etc

I think the numbers 1 to 27 are channels that are to be selected while scanning, but I'm not sure.
