Since I added
Code:
<StoreSeparateMetadataXml>true</StoreSeparateMetadataXml>
to config.xml, I've noticed that Videos doesn't display any show Description for a given recording if a separate metadata file with the .xml extension exists for that show. If I delete the .xml file or change the extension to .metadata.xml for example, the Description info does show.

Also, what is the order of preference for finding metadata in Videos?

If you're talking files within a folder,

then it looks from first for a *.xml file with the same start name as the file with the extension changed,

then a *.nfo of the same name,

if neither of those are found it then looks for a mymovies.xml in directory,

then a tvshow.nfo.

If none of those are found, then it looks for a ':metadata.xml' alternate data stream on the recording file.

I only have *.xml files and :metadata.xml ADS streams, which suggests that it may be finding the *.xml but not finding the description within it :confused:

One other thing it seems to do is look for a "same start name" file in Media\Shows & display it also before the ':metadata.xml' which is a real pain when takling about files.......

but if sub could fix it so it started actually displaying the file created by <StoreSeparateMetadataXml>true</StoreSeparateMetadataXml> (which I reported didn't work AGES ago) that problem would be easily overcome.

The xml format that it seems to currently read is something like this

Code:
<Title>
<LocalTitle>Hawaii Five-0</LocalTitle>
<SubTitle>Kame'e</SubTitle>
<Description>Joe White, McGarrett's mentor, asks the team to investigate the death of a Navy SEAL, which was previously ruled a suicide; Chin Ho is concerned when Kono starts fraternizing with a group of dirty ex-cops. (Original Air Date: 10/03/2011, Episode: 203)</Description>
</Title>

Althought it doesn't read the subtitle, only perhaps the LocalTitle and Description fields.

Yes, that would be good.
