Could this be used as a npvr extender? http://www.bestofferbuy.com/full-hd-1080...51252.html

You could probably play recordings on it, but you wouldnt get the NPVR UI like you get on the supported NMT extenders.

No chance of making an app for this box?

It'd be up to Martin, but I'd say it's probably unlikely. Adding support for an extra device is a big deal, and requires a lot of work, and support from the manufacturer (sample hardware, access to SDK, ability to launch executables etc). In reality its only even worth pursuing this on a device that is readily available, popular, and a manufacturer wanting to support 3rd party apps.

There is nothing particularly special about that extender's features or price today. It's based on the older Realtek 1073DD, and many better known brands (including Asus) that have used it and moved to a newer more powerful chip. Since all of them pretty much use the same firmware based on the Realtek SDK I hoped to have a GBPVR client for Realtek and I was close with a company called Xtreamer, but it didn't work out.

In general stay away from importing unknown products (like Diyomate) from Chinese wholesalers, they don't always have the proper licenses and can be blocked at customs. If the price looks good check to see if you can find firmware updates. These are almost always needed with media players.

I like the Roku media box, even though I am having a difficult time getting everything to work correctly. It is inexpensive and offers many choices of extra content via it's channels. Just throwing in my 2 cents worth!

From what I understand the Roku although good at what it does, is not really a true media extender since it is VERY limited in the file formats it supports. From what I have read it is like the ATV2 and it doesn't even support MPEG2 video.

Well, It may be "VERY" limited in your opinion, but it is a solution in what I am trying to accomplish here. I have been told that this package will always be open to developers and by Sub that it is just a hobby! There is much more to this development than I feel is recognized by the senior members. I have searched to find a cheap solution, software wise to record shows and provide it to my other systems. As stated earlier, this is my best option to pursue. Btw, I have received a few responses and I was asked to "Donate", which I have!

Sure I have pissed a few off, but I will reiterate that this approach to recording shows and the ability to play through a cheap Roku box matters.
