Hi,
I'm a long time user of GBPVR and now NPVR. I waited a while before moving to NPVR. I find this program ticks all the boxes for usability, reliability and functionality. No one in my household could cope with a PC, TV app and a mouse so now I have a hauppage MCE remote and people can cope. Go figure. I am using a Nova-t Hauppage Dual Dig card, a 500 something or other. It's an OEM jobbie.
While a lot of work has gone into the background - creating NPVR, in the foreground it just works. Integrating some of the key plugins from GBPVR days was a great step IMO. The Web interface for instance. It's Excellent.
I never watch live TV. The new comskip config for Australian digital works fantastic for me.
So having greased the wheel, I've got a couple questions I'm hoping someone smarter than me can assist me with please.
1) I'd like to donate but I don't do CC's unfortunately. Any other option would be welcomed.
2) I am using the DVB EPG option and prior to 2.2.6 I didn't have any problems with the EPG being fully populated for all channels. I was unable to install the update to get me to 2.2.6 so I did an uninstall/install. My recordings database was still intact after this process incase thats important.
Only some of the channels are not updating. Usually it is Channel 10/One. Occasionally it might be one of the Channel 7 digital channels but not all of them. Every other channel updates.
To fix this I have been using Settings -> Channels -> Update EPG. This appears to be a full scan of all frequencies and can take some time. If I turn the PC off then those channels are empty again next time I turn the PC on. Is there any otherway of doing this? I have tried Update DVB EPG during live TV both on and off with no difference?
Perhaps it's just the particular TV networks causing this problem? I'd prefer not to mess around with skimmers and XMLTV things. KISS. Even a right click Update EPG like with GBPVR or a way to do a batch file would be preferred.
3) Is there a way to access settings without having to open the NPVR program? Sometimes I'd like to be able to right click the taskbar icon and jump into settings like in GBPVR days?
Thanks
Treb
PS: I think this app is just about right to license for settop boxes. I've been looking for a STB with recording to disk for a relative and guess what. They are all rubbish. Slow, don't work, fail to record, can't play back and or just crap out after about 12 months. I don't know how many years I've been running these two versions but it's been at least 4 years. Even the TV manu's can't get anything decent happening and in most cases they are just licencing the STB's I've been looking at and they are rubbish. I guess the catch is needing a windoze OS on board to run it.
PPS: My join date says 2006 so I guess that means about 5 years I've been using this app.
