I made some changes to my server so that it would record to a network share that i created on the same box - so instead of pointing to C:\Recordings it pointed to T:\ which was mapped to \\computername\c$\recordings

i thought that would be sweet but when i checked tonight some recordings tonight had all failed to start - looking at the recording service i found that it was running so i tried to restart but when i did that i got an error.

has anyone tried to set a network path as a location for recordings? I was wanting to do this so i could watch recordings on my clients - at present that doesnt work cause the database is saying the files are on c:\recordings etc.

cheers

I record to A folder called e drive on E drive(not the share) e:\edrive
then just share that and it works fine for my clients (clients point to the shared folder) \\lounge\edrive

also share your database folder and point client to that \\Lounge\npvr data
make sure this is accessible from client

on my client i can setup \\lounge\c$\recordings in the videos section and watch them there but cant use the "recordings" menu to watch them - i get a blank screen | no video | and no audio - if i resize the window it says its looking for the recording at c:\recording\...\.. .ts etc

i guess i just wanted to clean it up so that the recordings menu option worked as it should Smile

it should work just by selecting the server name on the client
tick act as a client
and link the database

hmm just tried that but no go - the window name still shows c:\recordings\show name\filename.ts

so now i have \\lounge\npvr as the database share

Reproduce the problem, then post the logs and I'll take a look.

there are 2 parts i will try to replicate both tonight and post them individually.

a) not being able to play "recordings" from a client using the "Recordings" menu as they are looking for the local location on the server. Is there a port that needs to be opened up for this?
b) not being able to record to a network drive - NRECORD.EXE service seems to hang or crash if its started already (not required if i can get the above working)
