No audio NMT - solved.

I spent hours transferring stuff from VCR to PC in mpg format. But none of the files would play sound on the A-100. Fine on PC in WMP and NPVR. More hours spent transcoding but to no avail.

Unfortunately, the sound was only on the right stereo channel. With not much hope (disappointed so many times before!) I switched the left and right cables from the A-100 and, bingo, now there is sound

It seems only to be using the left channel. Is there an explanation for this I wonder??

Do both channels work normally? I personally think that the left/right outputs on the PCH 100 were reversed, but I think I am the only one that reported that and I have always swapped the white and red leads.

One of the features I added (I didn't get any feedback so guarantees) was outputting right only or left only input through both speakers. Hit the Audio key during video playback to toggle stereo/left/right.

Hi, Martin, nice to hear from you. I haven't been very active, here, for a while.

:o:o This is started with the embarrassment icons for good reason. The problem that has been bugging me for many months (remember I sent you a sample of my 'no sound' video which you found was OK) was down to an audio plug at the amp not making contact. Of course, it was the right channel that had the audio on it!!!! Never noticed there was no sound from one speaker on other material.

Don't forget, folks, there is nobody so stupid that they can't serve as an example to others!

Big lesson - always start from the basics.
