Good evening,

Would anyone here know if it is possible to configure NPVR to NOT record program's into individual folders? i.e so that all recordings end up I the same folder/directory.

So far, I have not found a thread that covers it.

Many thanks in advance.

Set <AutoCreateFolders> to false in the config.xml file.

How I wish we can set a few recording folders so we can choose which hdd/folder to record to when setting a record.
Currently have to use both gbpvr and npvr together to record to 2 hdd.

use ntfs junction points instead...that way you can link a dir to another drive or even another machine's drive..[net path]
for certain series i have junctions to my secondary drives/partitions so everything doesn't get fragmented when recording more than one show at once..
so anything new that gets recorded to certain dirs automatically goes to other drives on the fly..
easy to do, i think pstools makes the junction.exe i use..
i made a junction maker-helper app for pvrx2 but i think i'll update it for npvr soon...
only drawback is main recording drive must be ntfs file system..
works a charm for me for years now..Smile

Thanks for the tips. Will check it out.

Let's say if my default recording is C:\Video
Mean I can use npvr to record "Show A" to C:\Video and "Show B" to D:\Video at the same time?
"Show A" won't be moved to D:\Video too?

more like you have main recording dir set to d:\videos , and a series recording dir called Monk, and another series dir called 'The Closer', and you link Monk to another drive, all recordings of Monk in future will go to other drive [wherever you linked to], and "the closer" would still be recorded in "d:\videos\The Closer\"

but to all programs and windows too the recordings would ALL look like they were in d:\videos\
think of it like a directory shortcut...Big Grin

of course only useful if you use <AutoCreateFolders>true

Useful for recording series and from EPG only?

Is it useful for analog recording?
I want to use my C: as main recording while my D: for junk recording.
So whenever I set a recording, it will prompt me whether to save to C: or D:?

And is your junction maker-helper app for gbpvr available for download?
Thank you!

no, it won't ever prompt you...you have to do this all beforehand..
that's why series are best, cuz you can create the dir it's going to land in, and junction that dir to another drive..so everything in that dir will go to where you junctioned it to..

this is the junction maker\helper app from sysinternals..really all you need..plus info
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysin...s/bb896768

"For example, if the directory D:\SYMLINK specified C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 as its target, then an application accessing D:\SYMLINK\DRIVERS would in reality be accessing C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS. Directory symbolic links are known as NTFS junctions in Windows."

It is only good for doing single recording?

I'll be doing a lot of recording at the same time, some will go to C:, some will go to D: so I don't think it will do what I want, right?
If I junction C: to D:, all my recordings will go to D: instead, right?

Currently I am using NPVR for C: recording and GBPVR for D: recording.
