I am using DVBGuide to collect the Freeview off air epg as in the early days of NPVR I could not get a complete epg - always bits missing - now I need it to get the HD epg info which is encrypted.
Since using DVBGuide I have gradually set the update time later as I was still getting incomplete info. Now even at 05:00 on a Monday morning there are often large chunks missing - almost as though there is no one there to do the updates on a Sunday night - anything to save a pound or two! Rest of the week is usually OK by 5am.
The way the UK system works is that the entire epg for DVB-T + T2 is broadcast on every mux which takes about 7 to 8 minutes to collect (not timed it recently) Scanning one mux for 10 mins normally gets the full 7 day epg.
One moor problem I have found occasionally is that the computer goes back to sleep before the update has finished

It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives
