Had a quick search and couldn't easily find an answer - I am having a problem with the 2.3.6 aspect ratios. Specifically, I cannot get 4:3 encoded avi files to stretch to fullscreen on my 16:10 screen.

I know this worked in previous releases, and I have checked my config to ensure that the fill option is definitely 0,0,1,1. I have also tried changing setting my display as 4:3 or 16:9 in the config, but no matter what I set, when I cycle through the aspect ratio modes, the video obstinately refuses to enlarge past a 4:3 box in the middle of the screen. This is especially annoying as I accidentally encoded a bunch of 16:9 videos as 4:3, so although I previously overcome that with "fill" mode, they are now just squidged up in the middle of the screen Smile

Not sure if this is an NPVR or a decoder question though, as I had initial upgrade problems so did a clean reinstall with 2.3.6 and used SAF6. 16:9 videos play correctly though, and I would have thought that the fill settings shouldn't be affected by the decoder?

I will have another poke around in the decoder settings, but if anyone has any better suggestions, I'm all ears Smile

EDIT: Changing decoders and renderers doesn't have any effect.

I haven't seen this problem myself, but for the record - the decoder settings only apply to .ts and .mpg files. All other file types just end up using whatever the Window's default is. So...it could be related to video decoders that are getting chosen.

Do you have a short sample 4:3 avi I could download?

Thanks for that, problem now fixed.

If anyone else gets the same problem, here's what I did: I checked with graphedt and found that ffdshow was being used as the video decoder. In the ffdshow video settings I unticked the "resize" and selected "no aspect ratio correction" under the Resize and Aspect settings, which did the trick.

@Tieke
Be sure to remember that setting, when a widescreen video looks weird... Big Grin Because you will need to reactivate it eventually. :p It's one of those cases, where the problem has more to do with poorly flagged cropped reencodings. I get that sometimes, with a couple of my (handbrake) transcoded recordings.
