I just got a response to a query to Hauppauge. They expect to release a wireless MediaMVP within the next 8 weeks.

Yahoo! No wires to the bedroom, no bridges or gaming adapters!

Just thought you'd like to know.....

More info. 802.11g, and priced at about $150. Sounds like a winner to me.....

Hrmm.. 54Mbps, shared bandwidth between a few of these -- how do you think performance will be?

Shame it's not pre-n or similar.

I'm running the current MVP over wireless and it's good as long as the speed is 48 mps or greater... anything below this and I can't even listen to net radio... So I'd be hard pressed to pay double for a MVP with builtin wireless g right now.

Im using my MVP over wireless and I can't fault it. I share a D-Link bridge with my PS2 and the MVP downstairs with my WiFi router upstairs on the other side of the house.

Hey, I might be able to get rid of my DLink DSM-320 paperweight. If they added built in native support to play XVID/DIVX AVI's I'd be the first one in line to buy one.

Main reason I bought the DSM-320 was because it said it would play xvid/divx and it was wireless.

I think you might have a problem with your system. I've got a NetGear MP101 which only has an 802.11b wireless connection and I can listen to net radio fine on that and stream music ripped from my CDs at 320kbps.

Could someone post info on how I can make my MVP wireless.
I currently use an 11g router to connect a pc & laptop to the web using wireless, and would like to stream video from the pc in another room to the MVP without the cables.

Im no network guru, can anyone tell me what the difference is between an AP and a bridge?

thanks.
Lee.

Sure; the only difference between an AP with wired ports and a dedicated bridge is that you'll often pay for more with the bridge and get less. Seriously. You can pick up a linksys WRT54g router for usually less than the linksys bridge costs, and yet the wrt54g can easily become a 4 port bridge.

Check first if you're interested in a specific wireless AP and make sure it's capable of acting in client mode on wireless, but other than that, you're good to go.

I paid less than $150 for both the MediaMVP ~and~ the linksys router which also allows me to plug in other devices--namely my gamecube--by my TV.
