I have a Rosewill "certified" MCE remote control with the shiny green button. I have WMC disabled in Programs and Features and no other remote control software installed. All other commands work in NPVR and I have NTray.exe running but the green button is not starting NPVR.

I couldn't get it to work either using my Microsoft MCE Remote (Philips) although I already had it working via Registry entry and assigning a keyboard shortcut to NPVR.
I removed that entry and rebooted thinking the new native support would take over but it didn't. ( Maybe I should have done that before installing 2.55 - I don't know).

If you want more flexibility with your remote check out "EventGhost".
You can map several app profiles to it to handle just about any keyboard command as well as mouse movement and clicks.
If you are using a Hauppauge remote you may need the "Hauppauge IR remote registry edit" just google it, but be sure to "merge" it not "open" to use

Make sure the green button is mapped to the keyboard shortcut for the NPVR start command as a default condition. Usually the basic functions of the remote are defaulted to windows commands until the other programs take control and become the active window.

I'm not really sure. I'll probably have to update NTray.exe to produce a log file so I can work out why it's not happening.

Hmm, thats odd. I double checked the code, and it looks right. Can others confirm they're seeing the same as stustunz?

Inconsistent results here with a quick test. Since I have a modded registry for starting NPVR with a shortcut, I loaded the default registry as provided by the MCE Remote Mapper tool to try to get rid of the shortcut assigned to the green button. This registry has no mapping for the green button (0d), so it must be handled by Windows natively. Loading this registry stopped and restarted the ehome device.

With this setup, the green button did not start NPVR with the applicable Misc2 box checked, then did with the box unchecked. On the second and subsequent tests, it failed to start with the box either checked or unchecked. I'm not sure what this proves, though, because of all the messing with the registry. If someone has a known clean report mapping table registry, I could try that.

Yeah I may be in that boat also (screwed up settings)
IT wasnt really a moan it was a observation for others to trySmile
I find i have to unplug the MCE receiver each time i use the MCE remote mapper otherwise it doesnt change until you restart the machine.

PC this is on is running mce 2005xp (should really get around to updating but its like a old car im sort of attached to it)
