Sub, when trying the transcode page from a remote computer I get a message here that says that ffmpeg.exe wants to display a message. When I click View it opens a command prompt window but there is no text in it. However another window shows up from NDigitalHost giving some details about the device, oid etc. I have AllowRemoteStreaming and AllowRemoteTranscode set to true in config.xml. Any ideas?

No, I dont know.

Maybe try the same thing but running "nrecord.exe RUN" from the command line to see if you get any message.

As far as I'm concerned though, this was an experiemental feature, and was never good enough to make mainstream. Too many problems with ffmpeg.

This is what I'v found out do far: Switching off "Out of process recording" results in no message window opening, running Nrecord from a command prompt results in nothing happening when I try to open the Transcode page in a browser. Sub, could you provide a patch to log what's going on?

Are you using this http://<server>:8866/transcode functionality, or something else?

That's the one yes. Am I in the wrong forum?

To be honest, there probably isn't much I'm going to be able to do for you on that one. It was an experimental feature, and wasn't working very well in my tests. The problems seemed to be in ffmpeg though, so not something I had any control over.

You could see if there is anything useful in transcode.txt in the logs directory. It'll hopefully contain the output from ffmpeg.

The transcode.txt is empty so it seems ffmpeg never even started. Is there a point in trying another version of ffmpeg or changing the transcode parameters defined in config.xml?

A bit of progress, it seems that the transcode ALWAYS use port 8866, but I use port 8867 on my testrig. Changing the port temporarily to 8866 starts ffmpeg but it complaing that there is an I/O error on 127.0.0.1, and if I try to open a browser using the "/live?channel=" from 127.0.0.1 I get a connection refused message. Any idea why? I'v tried to turn the firewall off, but to no avail.

No, I dont know. Is there any error in the nrecord.log or web.log?

There is no errors in nrecord.log or web.log. The fact that it always use 8866 no matter what I specify in the /transcode?channel... surely must be a bug that is correctable? And I have a feeling that we could make some progress if I could figure out why I'm not able to connect to 127.0.0.1 AT ALL. The remote computer is perfectly able to connect to 8867 using /live?channel... I really need this to work.
