Hi there!

I'm a new user and may not be used to the culture of this forum yet, please forgive me if I unwittingly violate any rules.

Btw, I have installed NextPVR 2.5.9 (the latest version after 2 Oct 2012), but I am experiencing problems with certain weekly manual recording not working properly. Sometimes they simply do not record, or the weekly calculation seems wrong (ie if I select Tuesday, it sometimes will record on Monday or Wednesday).

I don't know whether it's related to the next point I'm listing. That is, when listing the recurring recordings, I notice that the display of the start and end times are 8 hours back. For example, a start time that I listed as 9pm will appear as 1pm when I view the schedule. This seems to only affect the display and not the actual schedule, hence the recurring recordings still do so at the times I specified, other than the Weekly recording problem that I specified in the previous paragraph.

My country is UTC +8, so it makes sense that the times are 8 hours back. I wonder whether there is a bug in the calculation of the day of the week that may result in the improper recording of weekly recordings?

Thanks in advance.

NextPVR stores show times in its own database as UTC. NextPVR displays the times using the time zone setting in Windows.

Typically, EPG data (such as, for example, XMLTV) includes a timezone offset for the start and end times of shows.

It may be that your EPG source is not giving you this offset. I assume that the timezone in Windows hasn't been changed by some horrible accident.

Good Luck.

I see. But the time zone in my Windows is still at +8, and NextPVR still displays the recording times as UTC.

What are the times in your EPG data source? Does the EPG source data include a time offset?

The times in the EPG data source read properly in my local time (ie +8).

But anyway, note that I'm not using EPG data to do recording, I'm doing manual recording by keying in my own times. How would the EPG source affect the times of the manual recording schedule?

Oops! I should have read more carefully. I now have no clue. Sorry.

Ok I think I can see a possible reason why that is happening.

I notice that the failed weekly recordings occur typically a few hours into the next day, ie 0000 to about 0800. I reckon that's because while it is the next day in my country, it is still the previous day in the UK (UTC 0). Until the UK itself reaches the next day, it will be about 0800 in my country already.

Another issue that I noticed regarding the UTC bug, is that when I modify any recurring recording, if I do not key in the start and end times again, they get pushed back 8 hours.

For example:
A recurring recording start time 2100 end time 2200.
After modifying, it becomes 1300 and 1400.
And if we modify it again, it becomes 0500 and 0600.

lol.

Do you have the latest patches installed? There was one that fixed a timezone related problem when editing manual recurring recordings, which sounds like exactly what you're describing.

Yes... the post I made for today is for the problem on 2.5.9 R1 as released by johnsonx42.
