Resuming and comskip in XBMC

Here is a very quick sample of comskip and resume of a NextPVR HDPVR h264 5:1 recording I recently got the donator version of comskip and it is working very well. The only issue is the jumps just happen there is no indication on the timeline.

Note this is from a WD Live NAS, and there is no issue with performance, it actually works much better than streaming the same file via the PC backend.

how does one enable comskip in xbmc? I installed the latest xbmc nightly and nextpvr build last night, but when I played a recording there were no skips, I had to do it all by hand. I have xbmc running on my desktop, not on the nextpvr server.

Oh, I see, comskip works from Videos, not from LiveTV->Recordings. Is it possible to make it work from LiveTV->Recordings? Is that up to the xbmc dev's to do, or up to the pvr add-on to implement?

it would be both, currently its not support. first xbmc would need to support it.

Note that comskip and resume are also supported in X-NEWA Recordings and the resume point is available to NextPVR.

I cant see any obvious support in the XBMC PVR framework for comskip.

Even though that thread is in the PVR development section, I suspect they're just playing the files in the normal video player, not as a recording from the PVR functionality.

apparently plugins that playback recordings via shares work since its just a file playback, but plugins that stream it dont work since it cant access the edl file.

the api would need to be extended to support this. if more people jump in on this thread and comment, hopefully it can be added.

Personally I prefer using the TV Shows interface anyway so this is no big deal. The recordings view isn't very good, and almost useless from NextPVR because of the alpha sort order on episode name, plus it is not integrated into the wifi remote like TV Shows. Then there is the question of resume too.
