STB recording chopping of right side of picture, help!!

So I'm starting to record from my stb finally!! I got some of the blasters working and I'm capturing from the s-video input of my HVR1800 things look ok but the picture is cut off on the right hand side. It looks like the picture is coming in as 16:9 but the capture card is only taking it as 4:3 but instead of shrinking it's cropping. I've tried it on two different boxes both with the same result.

Any insight?

This system is win 7 x64 with npvr 2.3.6.

You may need to configure your STB to tell it to output 4:3 letterbox or similar.

anyone in Canada know how to fix this? I tried this on an E940 and a 4250HD through S video. Maybe I need to preset it by outputing to a 4:3 tv?

You can see if any tips here work http://www.avsforum.com/t/471859/sa-8300...ricks-sara I know they are the same on my 4250HD. Make sure anamorphic mode is off.

Also since so many recordings are 16x9 mode now, you might be able to use this trick to capture in 16:9 http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...r-than-4-3

difficult problem it was a decoder issue...saf tradeshow was doing something wonky. Changed to ATI AVIVO or Mainconcept fixed the problem. Ok now onto the next step...the hdpvr.
