I have a Hauppauge HDPVR2 connected to my DirecTV sat tuner via HDMI . When I try to watch ‘Live TV’ I get video but no sound. Playing recordings using NPVR results in video but stuttering sound (OK for the first few seconds, then stuttering), however these recordings playback fine when I use a Zoom Player or Media Player Classic.

At the moment, I am mostly concerned with no-sound in Live TV playback as I can use a third party player for recordings playback.

I’ve applied the latest R1 patches and have deleted and imported the channels several times, each time making sure the HDMI inputs are selected before doing so.

It appears it could be a decoder issue, and I’ve played around with decoders but to no avail. Current filters I’ve tried are:

H.264 decoder – ArcSoft Video decoder, Main Concept AVC/H264 decoder, Microsoft DTV-DVD Video decoder
MPEG1 Audio – AC3Filter, AC3Filter, LAV Audio decoder, MPC Audio decoder
AC3 decoder – ArcSoft Audio decoder, AC3Filter, LAV Audio decoder, MPC Audio decoder
AAC decoder – ArcSoft Audio decoder, AC3Filter, LAV Audio decoder, Main Concept AAC Audio decoder
Renderers: Defaults.

Attached are my log files for a Live TV session. Thanks for the assistance in advance.

Hello Martin.

Are you saying I should set my AAC decoder to LAV and then try to play Live TV?

Yes and also make sure you configure LAVformats to play aac (click the [..] button NextPVR beside the audio decoder dropdown)

OK. I'm reinstalling NPVR. I'll post my results in just a moment...

Regards.

Can you configure NextPVR to use the default Audio Renderer instead of

2012-12-18 20:42:07.678 [DEBUG][13] using 'Audio AESDigital In' (HDMI) Audio

The default Audio Renderer is already selected in the decoders section.

The 'AESDigital In' is the name for the source audio input via HDMI. Others would be SPDIF, RCA_IN, etc. But I'm not using those, I'm using HMDI.

I know this because I had to use a patch (posted elsewhere by sub) to have the HDMI audio show up in Devices. Before that, only SPDIF and RCAIN_BACK and RCAIN_FRONT showed up. See aattched image.

Sorry I didn't know about that new setting. I see you don't have any audio decoders in your graph, untick the option to only used (sic) mapped decoders and try again.

OK, I assigned LAV Audio decoders to all applicable audio formats (see image below) and I unticked the option. Still no sound. Logs are attached.

Does the fact that the HD PVR 2 does not have an entry in the AnalogDevice.xml file mean anything? Even though it is listed up in my 'Devices' list, I see no listing of it in the AnalogDevice.xml file. Does this mean it is natively recognized by the software? I'm wondering that since it is so new, if I need to add an entry for it.

Regards.
