Hi.
I am new to this forum and need help.

My system is as follows

Windows 8 Pro 64 bit
Black gold DVBT2 Tv card
Plenty ram

I had npvr working fine and thought I would try Media Portal and XBMC. Didnt like them so I uninstalled them. Went back to npvr and now that doesnt work.

It kept saying failed to start service. So I uninstalled it and tried again. I get the same thing now. Failed to start recording service. I have tried changing the settings. Deleted npvr from the registry but nothing seems to work.

There is no N logo in the system tray like before. In services it shows there but says click to start. I pressed that and soon as it starts it fails.

Could anybody tell me how to get this to work again. Such a fool for trying something else.

I have attached some screen dumps of what the errors say. Any other info or logs to post to shed any light on this please let me know and ill get them up

Thanking you guys in advance

Zip your NPVR logs folder and post it as an attachment.

Hi whurlston, thanks for the reply.

I have to tried to zip the logs and get errors.

! C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs.rar: Cannot open C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs\ndigitalhost-26.log
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
! C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs.rar: Cannot open C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs\ndigitalhost-27.log
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

Am I doing it correct.

I go in to public folder, select npvr, select the logs, right click to zip?

unexpected socket exception calling StartStream(): System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host

Make sure you have exceptions for NRecord.exe, NextPVR.exe and NDigitalHost.exe in your firewall settings (and/or disable firewall to confirm if it causing the problem)

You'd expect that error if the recording service wouldn't start which the dialogs and errors show. If the reinstall doesn't work I'd try this from an admin command prompt"

sc delete "NPVR Recording Service"

Sorry that isn't legible, but I wanted you do uninstall, sc delete, then reinstall. You might want to delete the entire Program Files\NPVR folder after the sc delete just in case you added a bad patch.

Hi
mvallevand

I tried that and it still wouldnt start the recording service, I have done a clean install of Windows 8 Pro and all is working well, just need the codecs to get HD tv working, best thing to do is not fuss around too much with settings and leave well alone hahaha.

Thanks guys in trying to get this sorted for me
