Trying to get NEXTPVR to work with Colossus on Windows 8.

Running latest NEXTPVR with no patches (2.6.2) and latest Hauppauge drivers.

WINTV7 is working.

NEXTPVR shows picture fine and changes channels fine. My ONLY audio input into the Colossus is SPDIF. I have read the posts here and set the ForceSPDIF flag to true in config.xml.

I have tried various decoders and renderers, but still no audio. If I right click on LiveTV and select "Audio Stream", it always says disabled.

Any help or ideas appreciated.

Log file attached.

Thanks.

Hi SilverTiger. "Disabled" is an option rather than a status report. Does the second line in that box mention MPEG1 or AC3? You should be able to use Microsoft's decoder for MPEG1, but it won't support third-party applications for AC3. I've heard the Hauppauge AC3 decoder that comes with WinTV works with NPVR, but i haven't used it myself, and it looks like you've tried it already. I use AC3Filter (http://www.acfilter.net/).

However if no audio format is mentioned in the second line, then it must be something to do with SPDIF rather than decoders

It doesn't look like you are using spdif and ac3

2013-05-10 15:08:22.796 [DEBUG][1] audio renderer now AAC

On the device in the list does it how SPDIF if not right click the list item an select update to current settings.

I think you mean the "Disabled" box. If so, no, I doesn't show anything except "disabled". I've tried the Hauppauge AC3 decoder, but it did not work. Thanks for your response.

Thanks Martin. Sorry, but I'm fairly new to NEXTPVR. I'm not sure what list you are talking about. If it's the channel list under device settings, no, it does not show spdif. All it shows there after "update to current settings" is the blaster.exe.

I'm sure Martin is talking about Settings/Devices, but I believe it's the individual channels that you have to right-click on. Here's a thread that might be somewhat more clear involving the very similar Hauppauge HDPVR: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post454325

[Edit] Wish there was a screenshot of Colossus Settings/Devices showing this audio setting, but searching the forum turned up nothing. Could you possibly post a screenshot?

This is the HDPVR but it is likely the same. I tried to do a screenshot yesterday but I can't capture the right click, maybe because I am headless.

I'm fairly sure those channels are setup to use Component video with RCA audio. To update them to use the current settings shown at the top of the screen, you need to select the channels, then right click and select 'Update To Current Settings' to update the channels.

ah sorry - I didn't see it was you who posted that. Must still be jet lagged....

He probably needs to do that anyway.

There is some fallback logic, which hands old style tuning requests that didn't explicitly state the audio input. In these situations it falls back to settings in config.xml to determine if it forces SPDIF etc.
