From a suggestion in another thread, I tried vidimport. Not all of the recordings are being imported. I have dozens of files but only a few import.

Any idea why?

If I convert with MCE Buddy, will vidimport still add descriptions? I figured I would ask in case I have trouble trying that.

I have not run vidimport in a while but if you give me more info I can check into it (eg. filenames, types, are the NPVR recordings or not, what is not importing) , log/screen/ etc. Also are the recordings in the generated xml file or not.

As to MCE buddy - convert what to what? vidImport either uses the existing npvr hidden medata or gets descriptions from tvrage or thetvdb.com. If you convert an NPVR file to another codec you will lose the hidden metadata so vidimport tries to get it from the internet sources.

I am trying to import wtv files as I was aware of the lose of meta data. I just started mp4 conversions and so far appears to be going much better. I will post back when it is complete.

I actually started writing my own conversion where I query the wtv files for meta data but use the mp4 files for import.

It got a lot further this time. But I am trying to import MCE Buddy converted files. MCE Buddy drops meta data (as mentioned) and names files the same as the wtv files but with an mp4 extension. So I guess there is no way to do a search for the meta data.

I think I might continue with my efforts unless you can come up with a solution.

if you have the metadata you can add it back to the file (as a secondary stream) in a format that vidImport can read (basically npvr's format), but by the time you have done that you could simply create the whole import file which is what vidImport basically does.
