I'm an old snapstream user and am wanting to try out NextPVR but am having problems at the start. I cannot get the recording service to start. Here's the error I get when I try:

Unable to start service: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service
NPVR Recording Service on Computer '.'..--->
System.ComponentModel.Win32exception: The system cannot find the file \
specified

--- End of inner exception stack trace ---
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.Start(String[] args)
at System.ServiceProcess.ServiceController.Start()
at NCtrl.Program.Main(String[]args)

Any idea how to fix it or what I did wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and it just keeps happening.
Thanks

Is there anything in your nrecord.log file?

If you try to run "nrecord.exe RUN" from the command line, does it show any error message?

Are you installing to the C: drive, or somewhere else?

I did install to the default C: drive.

I tried to run 'nrecord.exe RUN' from the command line in the CTonguerogram Files\npvr directory. I am using Windows 7 32bit. It came back with an error:
Cannot start service from the command line or a debugger. A windows service must first be installed (using installutil.exe) and then started with the ServerExplorer, Windows Services Administrative tool or the NET START command.

I cannot locate nrecord.log.

Thanks for the help

It sounds like you didn't have RUN capitalized. If you don't you get exactly that error message.

To me it sounds like the recording service isn't installed. Try running the installer as Administrator and post your logs.

Uninstalled and installed again as Administrator. Same problem. I can't find any logs.

Ok, tried nrecord.exe RUN again and now it is working. However, when I close npvr, I have to do the same thing over again: nrecord.exe RUN from an elevated command prompt. Any way to make that automatic? thanks for the help

Your logs are in C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Logs compress all the files and upload them

I didn't mean you should run the application that way. I justed wanted to see if there is any error messages.

Since that has shown it runs, you should post the logs, as Martin says above.
