Hi,

Let me start off by saying the world of HTPC's and PVR's is still pretty new to me, so please bear with me...

I am having a good deal of trouble getting NextPVR set up as a backend for XBMC. Since I have a Ceton InfiniTV 4 with a CableCard, I have tried following the guides posted here and other places. I have managed to get SageDCT to recognize the Ceton internal card and all four tuners. I have also installed Network Recorder. However, the first issue I have encountered is that once I have the first tuner configured, NextPVR (outside of XBMC) tells me it can not communicate with the device. The second problem is that if I add the other 3 tuners in the .xml file, only the original tuner appears in the NextPVR settings. I am using Windows 7 x64. To help explain, I have attache screenshots, as well as the log file below.

SageDCT: Settings - Discovery - Tuners
NextPVR : Devices - Configuration - Error in NPVR

Logs: NPVR.log - NRecord.log

Code:

Any help getting me over these obstacles would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The way you added extra tuners is wrong. So focus on getting one tuner setup for now using your first file and I will help with the others later.

You may need to open you firewall for NRecord.exe and NextPVR.exe to talk to a network device

You will need to increase the time from 2000 to 4000

You will eventually need to upgrade to SageDCT 2.7.2 for XBMC

Thanks Martin. I'll give these settings a try over the weekend and report back with my progress.

Any progress? I am thinking of buying one of these as my OTA cable channels were cut off on Tuesday.

The Cetons should work with NetworkRecorder according to several users but if you want direct native support go with the HDHR Prime.

Yeah, I'd recommend going with a HDHR Prime as well.

Thank you both...now I am new to cable TV. CableCard or CableCard with Tuning Adapter?

I bought the MoHu leaf and digital broadcast is terrible. It is slow to change channels and the signal is inconsistent.

Thank you

If you download the how to guide that Martin posted for me you should not have any issues if you follow the document as it shows how to setup DCT side of it and get the correct port numbers you will need to add the others once you get one working.

http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...extPVR.pdf

As Martin pointed out you may need to upgrade but I'm still running the version that is in the document on my back end server and still working on 3.1.1 not tested with 3.2.9 yet.

I am also working on this exact configuration and have gotten a little further so far though it isn't 100%.

What i can tell you about the .xml is that you need to set the <NetworkRecorder id="20" instance="1"> to <NetworkRecorder id="21" instance="2">, <NetworkRecorder id="23" instance="3">, etc for each separate tuner. You also need to set the IP to the IP that the Ceton network adapter gets (for me it was 192.168.200.2). You can find that out by opening cmd or powershell and entering 'ipconfig'.

After that you need to add a channel or two to test the tuner and you also need to make sure you have decoders enabled for the type of feed your getting. For me I had to download CCCP to get decoders registered for MPEG-2 and the various audio formats.

I right now am able to get live tv for a few seconds and a .ts file generated but it freezes/crashes for me so its still a work in progress but hopefully this will help you get further.

Never include the id or instance in xml files you create yourself as they are generated by the NetworkRcorder plugin when you follow the steps on the wiki exactly. The pdf for the HDHR Prime will work with the Cetons too.

For best results make sure you use SageDCT 2.7.2 with ffmpeg muxing enabled.

Also play with the <delay>5000</delay> value, 4000-5000 seems to be the sweet spot but YMMV
