I am so lost.

So far I installed the HVT 2250 Hauppauge card and Hauppauge's Windows Drivers and also Installed NextPVR 3.1.1

I followed the directions in the Quick Start to go to Setting and set up my 2250's two devices (tuners) for ATSC broadcast etc. (I have an amplified antennae attached)

But nothing seemed to work.

Looking for help in the forum I saw the sticky post:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-Info

and followed the directions and applied the patches and restarted.

Still nothing works.

Now when I launch nPVR I get the blue window and when I choose Live TV I initially got what I believe to be an error window but it was not big enough to accommodate the complete error message so I could not tell for sure. All it displayed was "Live TV buffer directory doesn't exist C:\Temp ... "

So I created C:\Temp and tried it again. Now it says "Please wait" for some seconds and then the screen goes to black, remains there and I have to kill the window.

What is wrong?... obviously something is not set up right but I haven't a clue.

Please HELP!

thanks in advance,

db

Thanks for replying.

Yes, as I mentioned, I followed the Quickstart directions… which is those five steps you refer to.

The Devices settings were simple. Select the two ATSC tuners and let them scan.

Choosing the Decoders was not so straightforward.
The video renderer is set to EVR and I picked Arc Soft MPEG and video decoders and Sonic Cinemaster audio decoder. There were other choices but I had no idea which to pick in any of these cases.

Then I picked some folders for the files to be put into.

Did I do it right?

It's most likely the decoders you are using.

You should zip and post your logs though.

C:\Temp might no be the standard/best choice for LiveTV buffer
With Win7 the recording folder is "C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV" (or something like that)
and NextPVR will put live tv in "C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\nPVR Buffer"

did you look at the NPVR LOGS -> Windows XP: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\logs

I would have no way to know what Decoders I should use. Which ones are acceptable or not acceptable?
I assume they vary between computers ...?

Like I say, I don't know what NPVR was looking for for its LiveTV buffer because the small error window provided cuts off the error message.

I put it at C:\Temp because that is all I could read.

I read the logs but don't understand them. Hopefully someone else can interpret them for me.

I have zipped the logs and uploaded them.

Much appreciate your help,

best,

You should post the link for your logs so we can see them ;-)

Normaly you setup recording folders in
http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....Recording

In US you probably have to setup Decoder for MPEG-2 and AC3
You can search the forum to figure out how to setup decoders for XP

Try each of the video filters available under MPEG2 Video. If none work, try installing LAV filters and using them.

I did post them as attachments to my post. Don't they show up at the bottom as a zip file?

The URL u sent me was truncated by the forum software.

Can you post it again on a separate line ... maybe it will fit then...

I tried toggling the decoders a bit and now I have audio but no video ... only black screen.

I also searched the forum on "decoders for XP 2250" and read thru a bunch of them and tried a setting change or two but no difference.

...
