Is there a control for subtitle size and color? I've looked through other posts and haven't found anything on this topic. I'm asking because a film I watched on my server NPVR had different color and size subtitles than it did when watched on the client NPVR.

If it was not a .ts file it was not played by npvr itself, npvr asks windows (DirectShow) to play files of other types than .ts so it depends what codecs, splitters, filters etc is installed.

In looking at this further I see I can turn off the subtitles in VLC but I cannot do so in NPVR. Can anyone point me in a direction as to how I could turn off subtitles in DirectShow since I almost never want them. This is a .mkv file and I did some reading as to how to remove a sub file from a .mkv but was unable to make any headway in attempting to do so.

NextPVR only actively takes a part in playback of .ts files. For other files, like your mkv files, it's entirely up to windows and directshow to decide what decoders etc get used. It'll be one of these decoders that has decided to show you subtitles. You can probably configure that decoder somewhere to turn off subtitles (ie, somewhere outside of NextPVR).

After doing a lot of Google searches I finally solved the problem by setting the LAV splitter config for No Subtitles. I'm using the SAF6 codecs and am using his preferred settings for the NPVR Decoders.

In my splitter settings I have [ eng,eng ] in both the audio and subtitle fields - subtitles set to default and use forced subtitle stream ticked. - I also have xy-vobsub installed and when a Video is in English there are no subtitles, when it is in Chinese etc. there are English subtitles.

You also have to make sure you don't install the FFDShow subtitle engine when running the SAF installer.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

I tried your setting but my subs came back. I have no idea about xy-vobsub or FFDShow so that's probably the difference.

Well, I thought I had it solved, and on my server I do, but the .ts files on the client have a motorboating sound when I use the settings I mentioned above. Obviously, I have something else on the server that I don't have on the client, or vice versa, but I have no idea where to start looking. Any ideas?

The problem was of my making. I thought I had the unlocked version of SAF on my client but I didn't. When I took care of that, all was well.
