Hi, things seem to be going well here so far. I am just wondering though if there might be a way to adjust the Windows priority of the NPVR recording process (nrecord) from within NPVR.

I have been able to accomplish this with simpler programs in the past by just incorporating the Windows "start /abovenormal" command in my shortcut, but in this case there might need to be more of a hack, considering that there are multiple processes running in the background.

Yes! Thank you. I must have skimmed right over that.

One other thing. I see in that config file these two options, which I can't tell apart from each other:

Code:
AllowInProcessRecording*

TODO:

Default value (boolean): true

and

Code:
UseRecordingService*

Set whether to use the external NextPVR Recording Service to manage scheduled recordings and any configured clients. It is recommended to leave this option ticked as without it, NextPVR will only record TV shows while it is running. If you are not interested in recording TV shows, then you might like to un-tick this and also disable the NextPVR Recording Service to save PC resources.

Default value (boolean): false

The option "Allow In-Process Recording" seems to be the same thing as the checkbox that is located on the Settings/Recording screen. It is set to True, as the Checkbox is checked. Also I am getting the "nrecord" process.

So does "UseRecordingService" do anything different? The description for it seems to match that of "AllowInProcessRecording", although it has always been set to False for me.

I don't think the "UseRecordingService" setting does anything any more. The recording service has been required since the very early beta releases. There also is now a <ForceRecordingServiceUse> setting, for which I don't know the purpose or effect.
The "AllowInProcessRecording" appears to be the opposite of the "Use Out-of-Process Digital Recording" checkbox in Settings, but that checkbox sets <OutOfProcessDigital> to True if checked. I don't know what setting <AllowInProcessRecording> true would do.

Okay, thanks. I hadn't changed anything by hand here yet, just the recording bitrates near the bottom of the Config file.

I have "Use Out-of-process Digital Recording" checked (default). Besides that, I have now changed the Config file so that "UseHigherPriority" = "True". Also "HigherPriorityLevel" = "AboveNormal" (default), which looks good.

The nrecord process hasn't changed priorities yet, but I haven't had a chance to reboot it yet either. (Too busy actually using it..lol)

I'll have a look at that too. Perhaps the checkbox is an XOR selector.
