Hi

I am wanting to connect my Sky box to my PC to enable me to record TV. The PC is a Dell XPS 8500 with an Avervideo M779 PCIe capture card. The Sky box is connected to the PC via the cards Composite video sockets and this works on Windows Media Centre.

I have installed nPVR version 3.2.9 but am unsure how to set it up. Under Settings, Devices I have

DVB-T M779 PCIe BDA DVB-T Tuner 2 Yes Yes 0
IPTV IPTV Device Yes Yes 0

If I try to scan for channels on the DVB-T device, nothing to find.

I am not sure how to proceed. I an NOT experienced in setting up Video devices.

Thanks in advance

If you're using an external box and a capture card, scanning for channels won't do anything. You have to setup all the channels by hand. You'll also need some kind of IR blaster (hopefully one came with the M779) so that the capture card can tell the external box what channel to tune.

Hi PKScout

The DVB-T device has no option to add channels. The link you provided is for an analogue device, but I don't have one listed under Devices. (I assumed that DVB-T was digital, but I am a complete beginner at this :-()

You will need to install some extra stuff to get your tuner to support analogue in NPVR.

Start off by reading the "Analog Tuners/Capture Devices:" section in the Sticky thread here.

I had already tried unsuccessfully tried to install SoftPVR. However, the beta version installed without a hitch, and I now have TV working. I can now see what NextPVR is capable of doing. Thanks to you both for your help.
