Hi,
using NPVR 3.2.9, no specific hotfixes. I am using an Anysee DVB-C tuner connected to the UPC network in the Netherlands. I (have to) get my tranponderlist from the internet as UPC does not allow scanning for some reason. I always use some up-to-date lists for Anysee CNO tool, which I convert with a script I wrote to NVPR format. This worked fine until now. The list contains 38 transponders. When scanning, on one of them I get a NPVR application error on several modules, sometimes MSVCR110.dll, sometimes ntdll.dll and I've seen kernel32.dll as well.

Now when I create a new ini file and leave that specific transponder out everyting is ok. If I then make yet another file with only that one transponder in, it scans fine as well. What could be up?

I've attached the NPVR log and the WER log for one of the crashes. I also attached the full ini file although it's not of much use I think, number 18 is the one that crashes NPVR.EXE on my system / network / cable. If you want additional log files just ask. Thanks in advance!

You'd probably need to try to capture me a one minute full transport stream from the problem transponder, and put on somewhere like dropbox for me to grab, so I can run it here in the debugger.

Ok, the issue is NPVR crashes when scanning for new channels in a specific transponder. You need a full transport stream while playing a channel in that specific transponder? How can I make such capture?

In the meanwhile I found that scanning that transponder in a 'stand-alone-ini-file' the channels get ID 0. And it won't allow me to change that because I get a .NET error when I edit the specific channel. It does continue but the fields in the 'edit channel' screen are all empty.

Probably with whatever software came with your tuner. Otherwise, any other DVB utility you can find that does work with your tuner. You could also try TSCapture (eval version from http://www.tscapture.com will do 1 minute recordings), but it's based on NextPVR so may not work for you.

Sorry for the late reply. I installed TSCapture as Anysee does not come with capture software (atleast mine didn't). Indeed that also crashed when scanning the full-ini file, but just like with NPVR itself I could scan the ini with only that transponder in fine. I made a capture of it, but that as you expected also crashes when capturing, this time on ntdll.dll:

Then I tried with ProgDVB. Despite I filled in only the problematic transponder, it scanned on all other transponders and in fact found all channels my provider sends out. I tried the same but with another transponder and again it found all channels. I don't know enough of how DVB-C works to know how the channel-list is send, but for some reason ProgDVB finds it. Would be a great feature if NPVR would be able to catch the 'channel list' as well. I know the setup boxes the provider sends out, as well as some TV's will catch that list / signal, meaning you don't have to do a full scan.

Anyway, I uploaded both the crashed capture from TSCapture and the capture from ProgDVB. I'm not sure if the TSCapture one actually contains the error, I'm not sure if it writes exactly up to crashing.

Sorry, can you make a shorter/smaller version of this file? Maybe a 200MB file?

I can see what it doesn't like. I've attached a patch which should fix it. Backup your original file first though, because I'm not entirely sure the new version I've attached is still compatible with 3.2.9, so you may need to go back.

I was just capturing a 200MB file when I logged in finding your last posts Smile I didn't get their notification of your latest two posts as I hadn't logged in to the forum anymore.
Anyway, I tried the fix and it works! I can now scan the full ini file with all transponders without it crashing. Thank you very much for this fix!

Awesome and fast support!

Just posting - that it's still compatible with 3.2.9 - no problems encountered.
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh
