Client/Server Help Needed

Good evening all.

First off I would like to say that I love the Next PVR software a top notch bit of kit. I have installed the package to multiple machines and it works flawlessly when working from its own tv card/tuner etc.

My problem is when i try to showcase the client/server function and i am not having much luck. I have read a few threads and guides which try to explain the issue however i never seem to get any success.

I have taken a screenshot of the server and client screens (device and settings) - see attached.

I have attached the error message i keep receiving when i attempt to connect.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

And be sure to share \Users\Public\Npvr folder with write access to everyone on the server.

Ignore the "Clients" page in Settings: that's for other types of clients, not NextPVR running as a client. The settings you need are on the Devices page - "Act as PC Client", the windows name of the machine running as the NextPVR server, and the \\server\share path to the npvr database (the path on the server is usually c:\users\public\npvr, so you need to share that directory).

Thank you all for your responses. Can you confirm if the "SERVER" machine needs to have the shared database folder listed at the bottom of the window as well as the client? Or should it only be listed by the client?

Also when the "act as client" box is checked should there be anything visible in the big white box above?

The server setup is just as standard install. The database file needs to be shared (I just gave full permissions to everyone.)
I have nothing in the upper box (something like "scanning for devices" text ???) I'm not sure what it might say if you had a tuner in the client though.
I found things more reliable and faster at startup by using IP addresses rather than machine names for the server name and share entries in the client.

if the "act as client pc" is not checked then the other two boxes are ignored. what's filled in there by default is actually a server sub had years ago.

That has always been one of the best things about npvr
