Playback record in progress issue?

Hello.

I have a problem but I do not know if this is normal or not.

Every morning I record cartoons for my son who is still awake.

When he begins to watch the recording, it is still in progress.

For example:

- Recording starts at 7:30 am
- Playback at 7:35

The problem is that the movie stops after 5 minutes because at the beginning of playback recording was only 5 minutes.

If I raise the reading of the record which is still ongoing, the problem recurs ...

Is this normal operation?

My configuration is as follows:

- NPVR (3.2.9 with patch 11 & 12) installed on my server (Windows 8.1 64) with dual DVB-T tuners (Cinergy T PCIe Dual Digital Tuner).

- XBMC (13.2 margro) on my NUC (Windows 7 32).

- All connected by gigabit ethernet.

It's a limitation of XBMC when playing videos over HTTP. Hopefully they'll fix it in the future.

If you use the NextPVR addon, it always talks to the server via http, even if it's on the local machine. If it's on the local machine though, you can probably browse to the file outside of the XBMC PVR, and just play it as a regular file.

Yes. They've been aware of the problem for a couple of years. I don't think they're going fix it anytime soon. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

If you use the XBMC/Kodi Libraries for playback you wont' get server side resume, unless you use the mysql database and it won't be shared with NextPVR clients.

That said, if I understand correctly, to get the "resume" option, it must go through a sql database?

If you decide to play recorded files through Video or TV Shows instead of the PVR Recordings, the resume information is not shared with NextPVR. It is also not shared with other Kodi/XBMC clients in your house unless you use mysql
