I downloaded and installed DVD2MPEG and the supporting tools and tried converting a DVD. The DVDDecrypter ran fine but about 10 seconds after BeSweet (1.5) started my system rebooted itself. I tried again and reproduced the results.

Anyone else seen this and have a fix.

I have not seen a crash like this, but the DVD2MPEG plug-in does have things that can cause it to crash. These have been fixed in the new version that is now part of the video archiver plug-in. When you install the DLL it will list two plug-ins in the config program, Videos and DVD2MPLEG. if you just want to use DVD2MPEG, just select it. You will need to respecify your defaults to set your DVD paths. also, be sure to delete the old DVD2MPLEG.DLL plug-in from your plug-ins directory before using the new version embedded in the video archiver plug-in.

I've looked at this further and the crash actually occurs in BeSweet. I used version 1.5 and it crashes within the first 10 seconds. I downloaded BeSweet v 1.4 and it ran about 60 seconds or so and then crashed.

I wasn't aware of the part about removing the DVD2MPEG.DLL. I deleted it and the behavior is quite a bit different :-) I'm running a conversion now to see if it gets all the way through this way.

One other thing I see is that the "base directory" points at a sub directory of the one I specified. In my config I setup a GB-Videos. I ran a recording and it created a sub directory "Stargate SG-1". When I tried to run the DVD2MPEG it indicated the "base directory was" Stargate SG-1", not GB-Videos.

Well, it runs a lot longer now but it still crashes. I've got the GB part configured as described and I went back to BeSweet 1.5 (v 1.4 fails to run at all). It runs through the Decryptor part and starts BeSweet. It still fails the same way.

I've testedthis again and it still fails AFTER the DVDDecrypter part has run. In general it simply "goes" away leaving no MPEG completed and the temp directory empty. In one case it rebooted the system.

The directory "problem" is still there -- it points to the subdirectories and does not give an option to put it under the base directory. I guess the "fix" for this is to create a manual "converted DVD" directory under the base?

I just ran another test and now it is failing with an error message:"{Path}/mplex.exe completed with a non zero error code."

I don't understand how it could lead to a crash so bad as to reboot your machine. For the most part all the plug-in doesn't is invoke a series of third-party command-line based utilities. If there was a crash it should have been captures in the the gbpvr.exe.log or the dvd2mpeg log.

As far as the conversion not working, you can select an option in the settings of the DVD to MPEG settings tab of the configuration screen to keep temporary files. With this option selected the plug-in will not delete the output files the various utilities create as part of the conversion process. My suggestion is that you check this option and then rereun the plug-in. Presumably it will again fail on the besweet step. What I would do then is start a command window and manually type in the same command that the log file says the plug-in was trying to run. You can then observe for yourself what happens and see if any additional error messages are printed.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. In the last run the failure occured in "mplex.exe". It seems to "move around", sometimes in BeSweet and others in "mplex.exe."

The reboot problem only happened once today so it may have been a fluke.
