Hi,

I'm new here, and new to NextPVR. I'm already a fan - it looks good.

I've upgraded to Windows 10 and therefore lost Windows Media Center. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I've installed NextPVR and successfully configured the 2 tuners in my TV card, and they can see 123 channels.

But I can't actually see any live TV. I'm a bit confused about Decoders etc... The message I'm getting on the screen is "the tuner you were using was required for a recording...." which isn't true.

Any help and guidance really appreciated.

Decoders ... Decoders are needed to produce video and audio from the Live TV stream and from recordings. NextPVR does not include any decoders. Windows 10 includes a Microsoft decoder that should work for H.264 channels (i.e. HD channels in the UK). But, the Microsoft decoder does not work for MPEG2 channels (i.e. all channels that are not HD) in third party apps. MAny of us use SAF ... http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049 ... Send a forum private message to Hoborg to get the "unlocked" version that has additional decoders. SAF will install and configure decoders that should work anywhere in the known universe. A less reliable (but quicker to get up and running) solution is LAV ... https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases ... but the LAV video decoder may cause stutters in the video (LAV is also part of SAF).

Thanks for replying, and apologies for not following the instructions for posting here.

Logs now attached and I'll send a wee message to Hoborg now!

Cheers.

NEXT PVR 3.4.8 is working fairly well for me on win 10. my biggest issue id the EPG output from Schedules Direct appears to be 2 hours early. I've looked for time zone adjustments, the computer is correct, not sure where to go from there.

@gdevo - start a new thread with your problem, rather than tacking it onto two other threads.

I can't see a problem in the logs. When you have decoders installed ... Reboot to force all of the NextPVR components to restart and to start new logs ... Recreate the "tuner" problem and the repost the logs with a post to say the time that the "tuner" error occurred. My personal recommendation is to get recording and playback working before attempting Live TV.

Hi,

Thanks again.

I did what you suggested. The error message occurred at 6.27.

I tried to record something - and it seems to think it is recording it - but a zero K file is in the folder where its recording it to....

I can see from the order of your decoders that the ffdshow decoder is not hooking up.

On the Settings->Decoders screen, click the "..." button next to the ffdshow decoder, click the 'Codecs' tab on the list, then on the right go down the list and enable MPEG2.

that message "the tuner you were using was required for a recording" is the go-to error for live tv. any time live tv fails for just about any reason, it will tell you that but that don't make it so.

looks like your NDigitalHost processes are crashing every single time, I'll bet your task manager shows a whole pile of them running. I'm not sure why though... in any case you should reboot to clear all that out.

I wonder if it might just a permission issue on that C:\Temp folder? I've seen cases in the past where NDigitalHost reacted badly to not being able to write data, though usually it's not a problem (aside from not working I mean). Maybe try creating new folders and direct live tv (Settings->Misc) and recordings (Settings->Recording) there.

finally, be aware that 7-zip can't archive an open file, so your most current NRecord.log isn't included. I love 7-zip as much as the next guy, but for logs you're better off using windows' Send To->Compressed (zipped) Folder function, it will take open files too.

edit: or maybe it's just what sub said... but would that make the ndigitalhost hang? can't see how

Your tuner doesn't seem to be locking on to a signal...
Code:
2015-08-30 18:26:52.649    [DEBUG][5]    locked=0, present=0, strength=0, quality=0   (took 0ms to check)
Does it work with the TV software which came with the card?
