Recording Search, HD Only

Hi,

I may just be missing this (likely!), but is there a way in NEWA to search / record only HD episodes? I admit, not seeing it.

I'm not sure if NEWA has any functionality for this. There definitely isn't built in function for this.

there is a "quality" field in the database, which is populated with "HDTV" by Schedules Direct (can't say about any other epg providers). the accuracy of this depends on you mapping the correct version of the channel, not merging the HD version of a channel with the SD version of the same channel, and of course actually receiving said channel in HD form by the time it reaches NPVR.

the easiest way to use this flag in a recurring recording is to create an All Episodes, All Channels recurring recording, and then edit the "Advanced Rules" field to include the quality flag:

(note: when editing the Advanced Rules field in NextPVR, the cursor does not appear; just move the selection bar to the field and start typing. you can of course create the manual recording from scratch, but I always find it easier to start with the All Episodes, All Channels type and then edit)

(note2: yes, I'm describing doing this in NextPVR, not NEWA. I never use NEWA, but I'm sure you can find how to add this flag there)

Waste of time IMO, the HD indicator is not always set and it certainly doesn't respect tuner capabilities. Most HD channels broadcast a majority of their shows in as close to HD as you are gong to get.

hence why I listed those conditions required for it to be effective, and presumably why sub has not added explicit support for this sort of thing.

a quick look at my own EPG data says it would probably be fairly effective on my setup if I cared to use it, but I have no need of it.
