Recording discrepancy in XRecord

Hello I started using GB-PVR this weekend and have become addicted to it. Thank you very much for the great software. I am trying to figure out the best way of recording shows and as part of the process I have noticed a discrepancy in XRecord.

I started using the TVGuide to record, but found Guide2J much more powerful. However, using XRecord there seems to be a discrepancy when I view a show through the Reoccurring information screen and the Scheduler screen. For example:

- on the Reoccurring screen it shows

- Start Time 3/28/2005 5:00:00 PM and an End Time 3/28/2005 9:00:00 PM

- on the Scheduler screen it shows

- Start Time 1900 (7:00 pm)

- End Time 1932 (7:30 pm)

The Scheduler is the correct time (although I am trying to figure out why it has 1932 and not 1930 as the padding has always been set to zero...possibly it is ZAP2it that provided 1932??) Can I edit the gbpvr.mdb file to change the time to 1930?

The above discrepancy is on all shows I have set up. All shows in the Reoccurring screen have a four-hour split but no way resembling the correct time.

Any ideas?

Yours truly

Richard

the 1932 is odd. The scheduler screen in xrecord can be found in priorityrecordings.xml. Did you create it with xrecord in the scheduler screen? I will investigate. I am going to be out for the next week so it will not be a quick fix.

If you use the built in ReOccuring recording, the time is Plus or Minus 2 hours.

I did use the built in reoccuring recording. And you are correct, all times shown are Plus and Minus two hours of the show start time. I do not understand why this is. Please explain.

Hello Jorm,

Sorry, I am not sure which way I created the show. I do believe it was using Guide2J.

Having opened PriorityRecordings.xml it displays the show running to 1932 and the next show on a different channel starting at 1932.

Is it ok to edit the .xml file in wordpad or should I use a different program to change the file?

Yes, you can modify the XML with Wordpad and you should be fine.

This is the way that Sub has intended the reoccuring to work. If you say this Timeslot, then he pads it by +2 or -2 hours in case the show starts earlier or later on a future date. You can adjust this in the Config.xml. Do a search for 120 and change it to however many minutes you want it to look ahead or back for the show. If you don't want it to look ahead or back, you should be able to set it to zero.

Personally, if you are using the ReOccuring and the Schedule function together, I would suggest that you move entirely to one or the other. The reason is that you can have some potential problems if you aren't careful (i.e. programs scheduled in ReOccuring, but aren't scheduled in the XRecord Schedule option. Could be deleted or put in conflict status when you don't want them too).

Hello KingArgyle

Thank you for the heads up. I looked into it and there was a lot of differences between the Reoccuring and Schedule Option. Accordingly, I reinstalled the program and started from sratch. I decided that I would use the Guide2J and XRecord plugins. However, I noticed that using the Advance option put the items in XRecord Schedule and the Guide2J Schedule option put the items in XRecord Reoccuring...Is this correct?

A problem I ran into using the Guide2J Advance method was that the programs were not being highlighted in red (in Guide2J) after I set up a recording...but it still shows up in the XRecord Scheduler. This occured before and after my reinstall.

Guide2J does highlight the program in red if I use the Schedule button. However with this method the program shows up in the XRecord Pending and the XRecord Reoccuring, but not the XRecord Scheduler.

I also noticed that if I go to the end of the Guide2J table (which for me is approximately seven days) I receive the following message

- Error Rectangle '{X=655,Y=80,Width=0,Height=40}'cannot have a width or height equal to zero

Every now and then I also receive the following message when I am moving through the Guide2J

- Error Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

After both of the above errors I cannot use Guide2J until I exit from GB-PVR and reenter the program.

Yours truly,

Richard

Actually, I'm not sure. I've emailed Jorm and Jrock to see if they can answer your questions. As far as I know Guide2J has the option to use Xrecord's Scheduler, or the built in Scheduler. Not sure if you have to turn on a switch or something to let it know which one to use or not.

I would first like to apologize for being MIA the last two weeks (and the next few weeks as well). I'm moving, my office is moving... yadda yadda yadda.

Schedule controls the base scheduler. Therefore you add a show, indication that the show will be recorded happens immediately- it will show up in Guide2J and TV Guide right away.
Advanced is the CDK Scheduler. There will be no indicators in Guide2J and TV Guide untill the prioriority file is executed.

Those bugs you mentions for Guide2J will be fixed (hopefully real soon) for the next release. I also have a few new nice features.

XRecord reoccuring, is for the base scheduler.

I hope this answers your questions.

If I missed something, let me know.
