I am sure this has been cracked before, but I have spent the last 3 hours and have made no progress. It appears that if I change ANYTHING in the config.xml, GB-PVR will refuse to start.

I am trying to adjust the values so that the video fits on the screen. Both GB-PVR menus and video are off the screen.

Here are the two entries from config.xml that I am trying to edit.
<MVPWidth>640</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>500</MVPHeight>

In previous versions I set these to 620 and 420 respectively with good results. This version seems to have trouble with these being changed.

Look here for error message

The log files are at
http://www.computerfool.com/gbpvr/GBPVR.exe.log
http://www.computerfool.com/gbpvr/Config.exe-1.log
http://www.computerfool.com/gbpvr/gbpvrr....exe-1.log

Any help is greatly appreciated. BTW, running GBPVR09108.msi

Looks like your trying to edit the XML file with something is damaging the file on save. What editor are your trying to use?

I have a related but different problem. I've noticed with the new release that while I can resize the GBPVR screens by changing the MVP settings, they don;t seem to stick when I play videos. When I play things back the screen seems to be too wide and tall (that is, the right and botton of the video flow off of the sceen. I also notice that when I pop up the OSD it is not covering 100% of the video.

Does anyone else see this happen to them?

For reference, here are my current MVP settings

Quote: <!-- MVP Settings -->
<MVPForceMinimalOSD>true</MVPForceMinimalOSD>
<MVPServerAutostart>1</MVPServerAutostart>
<MVPUseAlphaChannel>true</MVPUseAlphaChannel>
<MVPTranscodePrePlayDelay>5500</MVPTranscodePrePlayDelay>
<MVPTranscodeUseFFDSHOW>true</MVPTranscodeUseFFDSHOW>
<MVPWidth>620</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>430</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>35</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>27</MVPOffsetY>

Yep - I would say that jrmosier's problem is the editor he is using - I usually use metapad to edit text files, but for some reason it runs into some characters it isn't sure about in the config.xml in the latest version, and if this is then saved, you can no longer start gbpvr/the config. (Took me a complete reinstall before I figured that one out). Using notepad to edit the file got it sorted.

cheers,

I've had this happen before, too. The settings in config.xml only seem to apply to the GB-PVR interface. When playing a video, the MVP did it's own thing. I tried running the Hauppauge software to change from widescreen to fullscreen, didn't help. The only thing that seemed to work was unplugging the MVP for a minute to reset it.

Yes, I have no control over the video placement. Only Hauppauge can change this.

I ran into the EXACT same problem. I edited with Wordpad. It is a brand new fresh install on XP SP2.

Is there a way to get the file back to normal, or do I need to reinstall?

There is a config-master.dont-edit-me.xml file in the gb-pvr directory which looks like the 'default' version of config.xml. You might try to copy this to config.xml.

You could try opening it with notepad, and looking for any extraneous characters. Notepad is pure text only, and works great, but you can't see if you are buggering it.
