Hi,
Am using GBPVR on a P4 Toshiba Satellite connected to a plextor convertx box that receives a signal from a satellite box. Great program, even better now that I have 512 Mb installed. Everything works, except ........

If I program a timed recording and let the computer enter suspend, the computer wakes up and the program records but when the recording finishes, the computer stays on and will not go back into suspend. However, if I move the mouse a little, the computer will enter suspend correctly.

Cant see any strange processes running.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

GBPVR version is 9108

I had this problem for a while (and think I still do, but only occasionally). Can't be sure it's the same problem as yours, though; I never tried the moving of the mouse. Somehow I have gotten the impression that it's related to my installing (and running) TightVNC server on the pvr box. One day it magically started working again. I had no idea why, I just got surprised by the sudden silence in the room =) However, I then remebered that I for the first time in ages had logged in to the box through TightVNC, so I just assume(d) it's related to that software...

Thanks for you reply Stefan. Guess I'm stuck for now. I saw somewhere a suspend executable called suspend.exe. I was wondering if I could start that up from somewhere at a defined time, it could save the machine staying on all night).

Try UltraVNC. Free and works very well.

Thank's. I just might =) At least if I encounter more problems. For now it seems to work, but you never know for how long ;-)

I had the same problem, my pc used to hibernate after 20 mins of idle but it stopped, I tracked it down to that I had turned on the webscheduling which was preventing the pc from hibernating.

Thanks everyone for the info so far. I will try scheduling the program suspend.exe this weekend and see if that works as a fix. I'll also be keeping an eye on the thread to see if anyone comes up with a brainwave.

Hi,
I tried scheduling suspend.exe and it works. So that'll do as a workaround. If you try it yourself, make sure you have a logon name and password for XP and specify both when you schedule the task. Otherwise, it will not run.
