yep... yep definitely a bug...

so i have shitty client rpi3 ... ok it sorta sucks but maybe i just haven't configured it properly yet. there's still no excuse for this though. ... it's your plugin, and your server software, your server software at least should know not to do this.

my slow ass client was being slow, so i pressed the record button twice. what happened? ah it started recording the exact same show twice, at the exact same time with a duplicate looking file name. please see attached picture. [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

there's literally no use case where you'd want this to happen. ... the resource monitor shows 6MB/s ... 48mbps ... 2 streams getting written for one channel same thing... how? why? who? who would want this?

anyhoo needless to say the rpi won't tune to another channel while this craziness ensues. Also, when we reach the end of what's been recorded, instead of just becoming live tv like you'd expect in a pvr application, it stopped. maybe that's kodi's fault. i'll go tell them about it too.

hope this is helpful. here's some logs.

If you choose to hit record twice that is multi-rec happening, not really a bug more a design choice. Normally two copies aren't desirable but watching live tv from the guide and recording the same show is an example of how I might use multi-rec

Since you wrote "literally no use case" each file will have different resume points so there is at least one.

so if a show is recording i can't watch it during that time without making a second file? i didn't realize this was necessary. i imagine this happens automatically if i tune to the show that's recording, it won't read out of the recording file but make a new one wherever it keeps the live tv stuff...

bs background info:
i have new power supply for pie now. i am adjusting my router to make it play nicer. apparently turning the radio to its loudest setting won't always help the range. i did see router related things during the hangups, like router admin page responding more slowly while there was a drop in throughput.

you are all doing god's work. thank you.

If you watch it via the recordings menu it will not make a second copy but depending on your client (ie Kodi) you moight not be able to watch it to the end.
