Sub, any possibility of adding support to use the FFDShow audio filter while doing recording. Basically, I see this as a work around to the audio setting problems that occur with the Lifeview drivers. This would allow resampling of the audio to the correct hz setting instead of being stuck at whatever the driver decides is the best. Resampling the audio doesn't take much in the way of CPU usage, and it could be made a configuration option so that it could be turned on or off.

Sorry, I dont exactly understand what you're asking me to do here.

Your Lifeview drivers produce PCM Audio, which is passed through the "HT MPEG1 Audio Encoder" filter, which encodes the audio to MPEG1 Layer 2. This is the component which is producing the 44.1khz audio. This component also has the ability to encode the audio at 48khz, but unfortunately since I'm not a licensee I'm not privy to the internal API of this component, so we just end up with the defaults.

I dont think FFDShow includes an audio encoder that will produce MPEG1 Layer 2 audio?

BTW, the Plextor equivalent component (InterVideo Audio Encoder) defaults to 48khz. The Intervideo component also has the ability to produce MP3 audio, but again I dont have access to the API to set this mode of operation.

Okay, what I was thinking about was something like this:

Before going to either the MP3 or MP2 audio compression, FFDShow has an audio filter that allows you to resample the audio to a higher sample rate. So I was wondering if the chain could be setup something like:

PCM Audio from Lifeview
FFDShow Audio Filter
MP2 Audio or Mp3 Audio
Write to AVI file.

I'm not sure if it can be done, but the FFDShow would allow you to resample the Audio to the correct setting since you can't get access to the correct API's that will allow you to do this normally.

Unfortunately it'll all return to 44.1 at the HT Audio Encoder just prior to writing to the AVI File.

You can also see this at the moment. The PCM audio comes out of the TV Walker at 32khz, and is resampled to default 44.1 of the Audio Encoder before writing to the AVI.

Which MP3 Audio encoder is being used in the 91.9 release? Does the MP3 audio get resampled to the 48000 or does it have a similiar problem?

When I try to record now, I get a message saying:

13:23:27.937 VERBOSE FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: MPEG Layer-3

I checked with Graphedit and I don't have a MPEG Layer-3 encoder with that name, however, I do have the following:

Lame MPeg Layer III Audio Encoder
MP3 Encoder
