Minimum System Requirements

I am currently using NPVR 3.7.7 on a Windows 10 PC with an i3 550 3.2G dual core CPU and 8G RAM and a SSD. The tuner is an HD Homerun Extend. I also have an NVIDIA video card with 1G on board ram.

When running a web stream (Edge browser) from another PC on the network at the max quality setting the CPU runs just under 100%.

Is it time to upgrade?

I would like some ideas as to what kind of system I need to be shopping for. Intel CPU preferred.

Real time HQ transcoding has always caused a CPU bottleneck even on high end machines. Since there are much better clients for HD streaming then your browser that don't need transcoding I would start there. You are running Edge on your client you should have no problems with either NextPVR or Kodi as your client.

Yep, that's definitely the best advice.

That's good to know, thanks. I have never had any problems using Kodi and NPVR on my current system.
