Why is npvr suddenly starting to transcode a recording from iptv device?

It'll be the way you've added the IPTV channel. IPTV channels set to the "Internet Source-IPTV" type need to be transcoded to a .ts stream, so it can be treated the same as streams from local devices (and since this type of stream would not typically be a transport stream - it'd usually be HLS or MSDASH or RTMP or one of the other IPTV formats)

If you manually add the channel, setting the type to "MPEG2 TS" ot "H264 TS", then it wont transcode the channel.

Yeah, unfortunately it's going to assume they are internet based streams, since they're usually published in this m3u format.
