A lot of information I have surfed down regarding use of an R5000-HD with NPVR seems pretty dated, which is expected as the device is no longer made.... However I wonder if someone could point me to instructions for setup of the device which should still be appropriate? Here's where I am so far:

R5000 is setup on a Windows 7 PC and fully working, both manually (via its own software interface) and as controlled using SageTV.
SageTV service disabled, so it's no longer running.
Installed NPVR.
Downloaded NetworkRecorder.dll and placed in \Users\Public\NPVR\NetworkRecorder directory.
Downloaded NetworkRecorder.xml but wasn't sure where it's meant to be located - tried several NPVR locations (\Users\.etc and \Program Files (x86)). Verified its looking at 127.0.0.1 port 6969

NPVR Service starts/stops fine with no errors. But no network recorder shows up in the Devices...

Am I required to run the NextCom basic Windows driver or can I not use the one tailored for SageTV (I thought this was just the basic with addition of SageTV page, which can be disabled)?

Any help is appreciated!

Cheers,
RLW

A few things to get you started

- You don't have the dll in the location shown on the wiki http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...rkRecorder
- the xml file goes in the same folder
- the IP will be the address of the R5000-HD

It uses the STV network interface. The updated the dll on the wiki it is still old but might help.

Thanks for the quick reply Martin!

Sorry, I mis-typed the dll location in my first post. I do have the NetworkRecorder.dll (and now the NetworkRecorder.xml) in \Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NetworkRecorder.

The IP is 127.0.0.1 as the R5000 is connected to the same PC as NPRV is installed on.

I'm not sure what you're saying about STV network interface and which updated dll on the wiki? Do you mean the NetworkRecorder.dll?

I downloaded mine from the link on the Wiki:

"The latest version of the NetworkRecorder plugin is v0.0."

"Download:NetworkRecorder.7z (3968 downloads)"

Thank you...

I updated NetworkRecorder.7z on the wiki afte your first post. Connections should be the same as with SageTV and as shown on the wiki you will need <SocketOpen>true</SocketOpen> in NetworkRecorder.dll.

You may have failed to install the xml file correctly if so go back to the backup npvr.db3 you made and follow the instructions again.

OK, thank you Martin. I grabbed the updated file from the wiki just now and will try that with an updated xml and first replacing the database. Fingers crossed...

Nope, no joy.

Should the R5000-HD application be running (like it needs to for SageTV)?
If yes, should the SageTV network server be enabled so that the R5000 is waiting on port 6969 for a connection?

I assumed yes to both of these questions.

Sorry I don't know how this works. You do need a server listening on the port you configure. I thought the R5000HD software provided this The SageTV server might connect to the port so you might need to turn it off.

Yeah, I've tried it both ways with no success.

Now I have no idea how to read the log files, but I would have thought there would be some indication of error relating to the R5000 or NetworkRecorder... but nothing. There are a number of other errors regarding BubbleUp server (running on the same machine) etc. Not sure if these are issues all to themselves or if they impact the NetworkRecorder loading. Any interest in seeing the logs?

Yes something is wrong for sure. What are the contents of

\Users\Public\NPVR\Plugins\NetworkRecorder

I assume you extracted the dll from the 7z file.

For the NextCom server the version you would would be the one with the network encoder https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthr...ostcount=5 but that would happen after you get the plugn configured.

Ignore the UPnP messages, NextPVR is looking for DRI service.

I think I got it you appear to be starting NextPVR from the Tray icon Show Settings option. I guess sub doesn't load tuner plugins through that interface. Use the normal NextPVR starup.
