Hi everyone

I was using an old 500gb drive as my PVR target drive all my recordings were stored on this drive it has just unexpectedly died no S.M.A.R.T ERRORS was just very old.

It looks like it died at around 1PM early today.

This drive was not C:/ Drive but a data drive that failed

I was running a Windows backup of this drive every night so I do have a backup Smile it's already restoring to a new location. Different drive

What are the next steps after restore has finished how do I re add my recording to NEXTPVR

If it was just the data drive then as long as it has the same drive letter and folder structure as your old one I'm pretty sure NPVR will continue to see it just fine and treat it just like the old one. Have you run into a problem, or are you just wondering?

Exactly correct. I had my 500G recordings drive fail, in that playback stuttered. I was able to copy the recordings to a like sized SSD (very slowly), renamed it to the failed drive, and all was good.

The failed drive was 85% fragmented, but playback still stuttered after defrag.

If NextPVR has already removed all those recordings from the recordings screen you should be able to re-import by using the automagically generated "recording-backup.xml" (.1 & .2 are older versions) that is in your data directory. It also allows you to do a (notepad) drive letter search & replace (if your replacement drive is at a different drive letter) & then import from this file.

Make copies of your recording-backup files to somewhere else just in case - they have a limited lifetime.

Ok thanks everyone

The restore has finished , the drive letter and paths are different

I have backed up the xml files needed

I have also used notepad to find and replace the old path

NEXTPVR has not removed the missing recordings

How do I remove the missing recordings before importing the xml files

config.xml has ... AutoRemoveMissingRecordings ... if True NextPVR will auto delete any recordings that are not where the database entry says they should be

unless

... NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing ... is True and NextPVR cannot find the folder structure specified in the path for a recording in the database.

It may be that ... NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing ... is True in your config.xml and NextPVR is not deleting the files because the folder tree is missing.

Please backup the npvr.db3 before fiddling with any of this.

Ok I will look now thanks graham

Auto remove = true
No remove tree missing = true

Are you saying that it needs to be

Auto remove = True
No remove tree missing = false

I have not changed any setting just checked what they were

What would i need to do change config.xml tree missing to false , save , reload next pvr would that remove the recordings automatically and then reimport recordings backup .xml

NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing ... is there to cope with a situation where recordings are stored on another computer or on network storage and the device is switched off when NextPVR starts. NextPVR won't delete the recording from the database because it can't know whether the recordings are on the device or not.

If you set ... NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing ... to False, NextPVR ignores the missing folders ... that is, it acts only on the ... AutoRemoveMissingRecordings ... setting.

I suggest that you backup npvr.db3 before you begin plus you can rename the recordings backup xml that you have and export another one at NextPVR Settings --> Recordings (just in case) ... Setting ... NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing ... to False and then starting NextPVR should delete all recordings that NextPVR cannot see when it starts. You can then import the recordings xml that you have edited with the correct folder names.
