Recording Failure

I had an "unable to connect to device" recording failure tonight. Tuner is a HDHR Prime. Show is The Curse of Oak Island and scheduled for 9:00PM-10:03PM. Logs look like it tried to record a few times but couldn't connect each time. Testing live TV on same channel about an hour after worked fine.

There is an alternate showing of episode later tonight but NextPVR did not try to schedule it after the failure. Shouldn't it have done this?

Any thoughts?

Something was definitely wrong with the device or network at the time (or it was in use elsewhere).

It ran the following SiliconDust command line utility, and it couldn't connect to the device.

Should it have tried to schedule the repeat airing after the failed recording?

I can't remember if this scenario leads to be rescheduled, of if it is just marked as failed. I'm travelling this week, so can't check it.

Ok, I'll bump thread next week. Would be nice to have that feature.

Usually when NextPVR tries all the tuners (it checked all four here) it is simply marked as a failure and the recurring rules record them later. The re-record option is more when tuners aren't available or the recording service is not running.

That would be a problem in my situation since the recurring rules for this show are for new episodes only. So with a failure of this nature and 2 possible choices to record again over the coming week, NextPVR would fail to reschedule because the shows are technically repeats.

I understand and agree it is a problem. I sometimes have problems because NextPVR won't even schedule from my HDHR if it is offline during scheduling times and that is why I have to manage my conflicts. In this case NextPVR would have to make a one-off recording on the unique id in the days ahead (avoiding conflicts too) and it is not an easy rule for sub, you might be better managing your failures.
