I've installed the app on my phone and tablet but it doesn't connect, is there something I need to do in NPVR? I have w10 x64 Pro with latest version of NPVR. My phone is a HTC M8 running android 6.0, tablet is Firetablet HD 10".

I assume you're on the same network?

Have you tried temporarily disabling any firewall you're running on your NextPVR machine? It's possible this is getting in the way of communication between NextPVR and your phone/tablet.

If that doesn't fix it, can you start the app, then zip and attach the NextPVR logs? I'll check that I'm seeing the detection messages.

I can connect if I turn off the windows firewall but obviously that isn't a good solution. I run NPVR client on another pc on my network and wirelessly in kodi on 2 android boxes with no issues so I should have all the exceptions in my firewall I need. I only use the firewall that comes with W10.

What happens if you use a web browser to see the webpage at "ip-addr-of-NextPVR:8866" where 8866 is the port value specified at NextPVR Settings --> Clients?

I had to go back in my firewall and readd all my exceptions for all my programs, apparently sometime last evening my pc decided to remove all of them Sad Don't you just love windows. Sorry for the wasted time.

When the firewall is switched on? The components of NextPVR that provide data and service to the Android app are the same as the components that provide the web interface. It should be that if one works then so should the other.

It's not normally something that I would suggest but have you tried re-booting the phone and the 'puter?

Stuff Happens Big Grin

Re-running the NextPVR install will re-add the firewall exceptions (but be careful if you have added any "patch" files that Sub has posted in the forum).

Ok - that's great. I did say "temporarily disable". It was just to check if that was the cause.

Port 16891 is used by NextPVR as an auto discovery port. You'll likely need to unblock that port (for the nrecord.exe process), then it should work with the firewall enabled.

nPVR 4.1.0 (180302)/Win10 x64 (1709). Samsung Android 8 and Nexus Android 6

Initial Testing Feedback
- I use a non-default Web Server Port of 8888. Does not Connect. Return to the default of 8866, problem solved
- I use a non-default Access PIN. With the (now corrected) default Server Port of 8866 I get a 'Cannot Connect' message, but I see the guide etc and can stream content. In settings it shows as not connected. If I set the Access PIN to 0000 then connection occurs. I am not sure what this extra connection is bringing as it works when 'not connected'!!
- With a non-default Access PIN, only one device can connect. As soon as a second device connects, the first ffmpeg process ends and is replaced by the new ffmpeg process. With the Access PIN as 0000, two ffmpeg sessions run
- Periodically, I see the ffmpeg terminate and hence the stream ends. No error messages in the Windows Event Log, so it looks as if it is terminating based on nPVR rather than ffmpeg crashing

- I would love to see the app work from the WAN rather than only the LAN.

Since my nPVR is visible to the WAN (Internet), I prefer not to run with defaults (ports and PIN codes etc) where ever possible!

Great start - thanks for a great product!!!
