I am recording movies from a local channel that plays movies 24 hours a day. I am using PLEX to record the movies. Most of these videos playback without a problem using NextPVR for playback, but about one in five shows a much shorter length than the actual video length and does not play to the end in NextPVR. These videos play correctly in PLEX and VideoLAN. If I skip the video backward while playing I can get it to play to the end. On the other hand if I try to skip a commercial by skipping forward the playback becomes erratic, fast forwarding or jumping way ahead. Currently I have a recording that is 3 hours in length, NextPVR is reporting it as 45 minutes in length. I have another movie recorded which is 3 hours and 30 minutes which plays without a problem on NextPVR.

Any chance you could supply a sample recording?

Otherwise I could give you some registry settings to collect more detailed info.

Also, what version of NextPVR are you using? I seem to recall a bug that caused symptoms like this a few versions ago. Sub quickly fixed it. Smile

The file is 4.8 gb -> https://1drv.ms/v/s!AoKvsd7xKnzeoTCc4nFvjJBM94Vl

The version I am using was installed 4/29/18 and was the most recent at that time.

Thanks. How long is it reporting that file is for you? NextPVR is reporting 2:28:59, VLC is reporting it's 2:29:00. MediaInfo is reporting 2:28 (doesn't specify seconds).

That's odd. Can you try playing the file, then zip and attach your logs?

When I played the video it played to the end of the 3 hours. I did not watch it, but checked it from time to time. When I checked at 1:29 I noticed that the progress bar at the bottom of the video was entirely green and showed 1;29 at the left and 45:14 at the right of the video progress bar. Each time thereafter when I would check the time to the left of the progress bar would it continue but the time to the right of the progress bar remained at 45:14. I did nor forward nor did I rewind the video at any point (this has caused problems with the misreported length videos).

Can you try temporarily disabling the TV Listings plugin, and see if it makes a difference? I think it is opening the file, and this makes NextPVR think the file is still recording, that leads to some slightly different things happening to determine the duration.

I removed the TV Listings folder from the Plugins folder and rebooted my computer. I used the default settings. No change. Still seeing 45:14. I did notice that the recording will play through if I skip ahead, as long as I do not skip at the end of the recording.
