Unable to find available capture device/HDHR Stream Not Available

Hi, I just updated my NextPVR to version 4.2.1. Now I get an error - Unable to find available capture device, HDHR stream not available. It was working fine just before I upgraded. I have rebooted the PC many times, and reset the Cable Box.

I have a Hauppauge WinTV-DCR-2650 Cable box.


I have attached a log file.

Does opening http://192.168.236.161 in your browser show the device's webpage?

Also, I tried to go back to the previous version. After the install, NextPVR still says it is at 4.2.1. Is it possible to go back?

The version number comes from config.xml not from the program files. Probably wiser to wait for sub to look into this.

It would have gone back to the old version, but trying to downgrade this way will leave your version number saying the newer version.

Is the device now working after going back to the older version?

Something I hadn't considered, but I'm now worrying about - this release switched the HDHR device to use HTTP instead of UDP. This has been confirmed working by a couple of other users, but I hadn't been considering the Hauppauge DCR devices, which are an old copy of the HDHR Prime, and I'm not sure if they get firmware updates etc, and there is a possibility they don't support HTTP. If that is the case, I'll have to think about the best way to get these devices working again.

Success! I went to the Hauppauge page and downloaded the latest driver for the WinTV 2650. I have no idea what version I had, but I am guessing the new one is from 8/26 2015 (based upon the file name). Not recent, but maybe new enough to get it to work.

Hopefully it will stay working!

Are you on 4.2.1, or still running the older build you reinstalled? If the older build, it be good if you can reinstall 4.2.1 to check.

To be honest, I went back and forth a few times and lost track of which version I was running. I re-installed the latest version (4.2.1) and all is still working.
