I have a TBS 6902 tuner card installed in a new Win10 machine. The card previously worked fine in a Win 8.1 machine with Windows Media Centre. It also works well in the new machine with Media Portal, however Media Portal and I have our differences so I'm trying alternatives.

NextPVR detects the tuner immediately on the devices tab, however it doesn't find the channels on our satellite. I have tried the default settings and also tried various manual scans with no joy at all. Is someone able to guide me in the right direction please?

Our satellite is Optus D1 (160.0E), details here - https://www.lyngsat.com/Optus-D1.html
My first thought is that this satellite uses the Ku-Circular band rather than the Ku-Universal band and NextPVR is not recognising this. I had a Hauppauge card once with WinTV which didn't allow for Ku-Circular and I eventually gave that up as a lost cause.

Many thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't think I ever remember another NextPVR user saying they were using a Ku-Circular LNB, so there maybe some issue with this.

Post the logs though, and I'll see if anything stands out.

Hi,

Thanks for this. I've uploaded the file as per your request. As you can see I've been playing around with this.

Cheers

What LNB are you using, is this one of the Sky supplied ones that most people in NZ are you using?

I don't know to be honest. I've recently moved into a new flat and have no idea what's installed. You may very well be right but I have no way of telling. The TV works well with the dish installed as does the tuner card I'm now trying to use when I use Media Portal. From which I deduce that the dish and the card are fine.

My comments about the band were speculation, and I now suspect I may have misled you. I had always believed that the band was a function of the satellite thing rather than the LNB - some time ago a different card with different software leapt into life when we changed the band as I mentioned above, and I thought this might be the problem here.

Have the logs shown anything useful? I see you aren't too far away from me so you will be familiar with the Optus D1 satellite. Whether you watch satellite TV with NextPVR is, of course, another matter.

Cheers

Do you know if the cable goes straight from the capture card to the LNB at the end of the satellite dish, or via a diseqc switch along the way?

You could try setting the LNB settings to 11300/11300/11300, and see if that helps. There is quite a few LNBs in NZ that need those settings.

Hi,

There isn't a diseqc switch so that's not a problem.
I've tried the LNB setting you suggested but nothing changes - scan still doesn't find any channels.

What LNB settings does it show in MediaPortal? I'm pretty sure it'll just be a case of getting the appropriate LNB settings for your LNB.

Media Portal doesn't show the LNB settings :-)
I've attached a screenshot of the MP scanning dialogue. This detects 145 channels.
