So I installed a BT v4 USB adapter on our NPVR PC so I could use my new BT headphones to watch recordings and movies. I installed the software that came with it called CSR Harmony Wireless Software Stack and that worked fine, identifying my headphones after a reboot. I then realized NPVR was not running, so I launched it and it crashed. I tried removing the headphone pairing, removing dongle, rebooting, still crashed. Just to see if the BT was working I launched Kodi and that crashed too. I tried VLC which also crashed, but noted COM Surrogate was the problem. I then uninstalled the CSR software, but both NPVR and Kodi still crash while VLC would launch and run.

During the first reboot there were a couple Windoze updates that applied. I guess those could be suspect also, but I'm more inclined to believe it was the CSR software.

I was due to update, so I did install NPVRSetup_4_2_2_180623, but no change.

NPVR logs attached. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Brad

There is no obvious error in those logs.

Do you get a error message on the screen?

Do you see the NextPVR screen, or it doesn't get that far? Does the app actually start, but crashes when you do something in particular?

It looks like "StackHash_45ae" (.dll?) is your problem. Maybe try to find that on your machine. Look at the directory it's in, or the properties of the file to see who manufactured it, for clues as to what app it is part of.

Thanks Sub. Unfortunately there's no "StackHash*" on my C:\. I googled it and found others with similar crashing, the reported solution is to set a DEP Exception for the launched application that created the crash. My Control Panel crashes every time I tried to get to the System section to create the exception. Maybe time to revert to an older HD image.

Yeah, sounds like your Windows install is not happy.

Ugh, had to go back to a 2015 backup, but it's working, sort of. I was using XMLTV back then but have been back on SD for a couple years now. I must have goofed, I backed up the NPVR directory in the user folder, but there must have been something else I needed for the recurring recordings and EPG mapping? Both of these appear to be wrong/old?

I did make an image of the "bad" drive before restoring, so I can try to retrieve a file if I know what to look for, any suggestions?

Thanks,
Brad

NextPVR stores everything in npvr.db3 and config.xml in C:\User\Public\NPVR ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...alledParts
